　　本書主要探討下列國家之教育專題，包括：台灣地區、中國大陸、美國、加拿大、紐西蘭及澳洲等地。內容涵蓋中小學及高等教育中的特殊議題，如：私立學校之發展，國中教師之教學生態、留學與移民教育、大學之組織架構與合併調整等問題。作者嘗試從比較教育的觀點，留意研究對象之間的可比較條件，針對跨國議題如：美加、紐澳與台海兩岸之教育比較，或自同一區域內如：台灣地區男女大學教師之薪資問題予以分析、對照，期能作為關心國內比較教育研究者之參考。

　　This book is divided into two parts. The first part discusses some special issues, such as the development of private education and consolidation of universities in China; the immigration policies in New Zealand's changing ethnic relations; and the secondary teachers' daily activities in Taiwan. The second part draws from five comparative studies on Canadian and American higher education, the academic reward system in Taiwan and the United States, gender differences in Taiwan and China's academe, male and female faculty income in Taiwan, and Chinese university admissions during the Cultural Revolution and Post-Cultural Revolution Periods. The question that "What can we learn from comparative education research?" is served as the theme in this book and yet the answer seems beyond expectation….
