This book examines issues on how and why Taiwanese students go to pursue higher education in China even though the Chinese university degrees are not acknowledged in Taiwan. Based on several empirical studies on Taiwanese students in Mainland China, the author attempts to provide some answers for the preceding questions.
The book is divided into eight chapters: Chapter one focuses on analyzing the current trends of studying in Mainland China. Chapter two explores topics such as the state of art in Chinese higher education. Chapter three compares and contrasts China”¦s and Taiwan”¦s universities, including their systems and reform issues. Chapter four provides some empirical studies on Taiwanese students in the PRC. Chapter five focuses on the recognition issues over Chinese university diplomas. Chapter six investigates the impact of the WTO on Chinese and Taiwanese higher education. Chapter seven introduces the admission policies of Chinese universities for Taiwanese students. Chapter eight examines the pros and cons of universities”¦ ranking issues in China.
