科技發展至今，大部分的家庭都有電腦了，大小朋友們利用空閒時間製作一個聲光效果皆有的多媒體節目不再是一件難事，使用多媒體作英語教學也不是一件少數富有的學校以及具備高深電腦素養老師才能享有的特權。然而，我們是否真的了解多媒體這個很多新生代學生從小就接觸的工具，對學習態度以及課堂教學的影響? 我們又是不是真的能夠利用多媒體讓英語教學做得更有效能，讓學生學得更起勁、更深刻呢?以市面上看到的英語教學軟體仍舊使用傳統的教學方法看來，答案非常可能是否定的。今後的英語教學，多媒體應該會成為必備的教材。若要能夠有效能的使用多媒體達成教學，老師對多媒體與英語教學課題必須要有所認識。
本課程的目標在增進老師們對以下多媒體教學課題的認識：
英語教學新觀念：多媒體如何衝擊傳統教學觀念
多媒體教學實務：英語聽說讀寫教學如果要做得有品質，會是什麼樣子?
多媒體遊戲教學：電腦遊戲如何影響新生代學生的課堂學習態度，又如何對英語教學設計有所啟示
多媒體教材設計：認知理論與實務演練
適合修習本課程的老師，必須對英語教學活動設計有熱誠，願意深入了解新時代學生的學習態度與方法，並且願意以此探究如何利用多媒體把英語教學的理念發揮出來。也就是說，本課程的重點是思想觀念的建立與理論實務的討論，電腦技術僅為輔助。只要熟悉一般的微軟office軟體，具備國際網路資源的查詢技巧，也能夠發送e-mail，就可以參加。如果能夠製作簡單的網頁，更為理想。無論如何，請大家務必放下「增進自己的電腦技術」的期盼，才能從本課程中得到收穫。
Discussion Goal: Prepare a report for a hypothesized situation --You are sent by your school to take this course on multimedia-based EFL instruction. Your principle want you to give a report in August to share with the teachers in your school what you learn here. You need to prepare a presentation (20 minutes) and a written report (min. 5-pages) for your audience. As we read and discuss, please keep a notebook for good ideas to be incorporated into your report, but do not just copy. You need to synthesize all the useful information, provide your own point of view (reflection), and present everything in a way that is useful to your colleagues.
Workshop Goal: Create aWebQuest Project that has a MM component to be used in your teaching.

主要以問題討論，案例示範，以及教材實作方式進行教學。並且利用網路平台延伸課堂討論的時間與空間，增加學生對多媒體教材的實際運用經驗。課程中並有機會與University of Toledo的同學連線討論並且合作完成真正可以用在教學的作品。
